BIG THIEF

Over the last decade, Big Thief has proven themselves to be one of the most exciting live bands of their generation. Composed of songwriter Adrianne Lenker, guitarist Buck Meek, and drummer James Krivchenia, their creative output is seemingly limitless, sprawling across five critically-acclaimed albums.

J.J. LIGHT

Born in New Mexico, Jimmy Stallings has spent more than six decades carving out a singular place in American rock, blues, soul, and psychedelic music. A member of the Navajo Nation, Stallings first emerged in the early 1960s recording doo-wop and R&B sides before relocating to Los Angeles, where he became an in-demand bassist and songwriter during the golden age of West Coast rock. During this period, he performed and recorded with a remarkable range of artists, including Wilson Pickett, Bobby Day, Rosie and the Originals, The Coasters, Donnie Brooks, Charlie Daniels, Lynard Skynard, and Johnny Burnette. He also recorded as bassist with Ruben Rodriguez and the Mariachi Kings, an 18-piece mariachi ensemble featuring legendary jazz guitarist Larry Carlton. Stallings later joined the legendary Sir Douglas Quintet during the band’s “Mendocino” era, contributing to the gritty Tex-Mex sound that helped define the period.

Under the name J.J. Light, Stallings achieved international recognition with the 1969 cult hit “Heya,” a genre-defying anthem infused with Native American rhythms, rocksteady grooves, and psychedelic soul. The song became especially popular in Europe and has since earned lasting cult status among collectors and crate-diggers worldwide. His album Heya!—recorded with top Los Angeles studio musicians connected to sessions for artists like The Beach Boys and The Byrds—has been praised as a uniquely adventurous work that blends rock, folk, blues, country, and Indigenous influences into something entirely his own.

Through the decades, Stallings has continued writing, recording, and performing with unwavering dedication to his craft. Over the course of his career, he has recorded more than thirty albums spanning blues, rock, gospel, country, and soul, building a body of work that reflects both musical curiosity and deep personal expression. With no signs of slowing creatively, Stallings continues to write and record new music and remains a vital creative force whose music continues to evolve while staying rooted in the spirit and authenticity that have defined his remarkable career. His music is available on Bandcamp, iTunes, Spotify, and other major streaming platforms.
